An unplanned expat blogger behind CalmCedarPoint

Hello, I am Chiara

I work as a project manager. I am a parent. I live abroad as an expatriate in Rome, Italy.

A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.

How It Started

Moving to Italy wasn’t part of the long-range plan. Like many relocations for expats, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far greater.

The initial months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complex than they ought to be.

The Adjustment Period

There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that worked for us, met other families, and began building something that felt stable.

Why I Built CalmCedarPoint

Most information online was either corporate-level relocation advice or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was an honest, day-to-day family perspective.

This site exists to close that gap — practical guidance based on real life in Italy.

What This Site Stands For (And What It Doesn't)

This site IS ALL ABOUT:

  • Real-world experience from living in Italy
  • Centered on family life and everyday realities
  • Updated whenever something truly changes

This site IS NOT:

  • Not a tourism authority resource
  • A paid-review platform
  • A generic travel blog

Looking Forward

Our stay in Italy continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll keep recording what we learn.

If you have questions about family life in Rome or anywhere in Italy, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Best regards,

Chiara
